Our Commitment: Safe, Ethical, and Transparent AI Learning at EBT AI Homeroom

At Eggs Benedict Tech LLC, we are not just creating and sharing innovative AI-powered learning tools; we are working towards the future of education on a foundation of trust, integrity, and responsibility.

For AI Homeroom, our commitment to safety, ethics, and transparency is paramount, especially when it comes to the well-being and privacy of students and children.

We align our practices with leading national principles and educational standards to ensure a secure, fair, and beneficial learning environment for every student.

1.1 Data Privacy: Protecting Every Child's Information

Your child's privacy is our absolute highest priority. We understand the sensitivity of student data and are committed to rigorous protection measures.

  • We adhere strictly to federal regulations designed to protect children's online privacy and educational records.

  • Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) Compliance: We comply with COPPA, a federal law that sets strict requirements for collecting, using, and disclosing personal information from children under 13. This includes obtaining verifiable parental consent before any personal information is collected.

  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Compliance: We fully comply with FERPA, which protects the privacy of student education records and grants parents rights regarding their children's records, including inspection, review, and correction requests.

  • Data Minimization & Security: We collect only the data strictly necessary for the AI Homeroom's specific educational context and purposes. All student data is stored securely with robust encryption and confidentiality measures.

  • No Chat Data for AI Model Training: We explicitly state that student chat data from interactions with our AI tutors is never used to train or improve our AI models. This ensures that conversations remain private and are not repurposed.

  • Transparent Data Handling: We provide clear and accessible information about how student data is collected, used, and stored, ensuring transparency for parents and educators

1.2 Human-in-the-Loop: Empowering Educators, Not Replacing Them

Our philosophy is clear: AI Homeroom is designed to augment, supplement and support human learning and education systems, not to replace the invaluable role of teachers and parents. We believe that human judgment, empathy, and contextual understanding are irreplaceable in education.

  • Teacher Oversight & Control: Our systems are built to ensure teachers and parents remain "in the loop" for major instructional decisions and can oversee AI-driven recommendations.

  • Inspectable, Explainable, Overridable AI: We are committed to developing AI tools that are inspectable (teachers can see what the AI is doing), explainable (teachers understand why the AI made a recommendation), and overridable (teachers can intervene and change AI-driven decisions).

  • Augmentation, Not Automation of Core Teaching: AI Homeroom aims to reduce administrative burdens and provide personalized support, freeing up teachers' time for direct student interaction, deeper mentorship, and critical thinking development. We firmly reject any vision where AI could replace teachers.

1.3 Bias Mitigation: Ensuring Fairness for All Learners

We are acutely aware of the potential for algorithmic bias when AI models are trained on data that reflects existing societal inequities. Our commitment to equity drives our proactive efforts to mitigate bias in AI Homeroom:

  • Proactive Equity Assessments: We conduct assessments during the design phase to identify potential discrimination and bias.

  • Representative Data & Guarding Against Proxies: We strive to use representative and robust data for AI development and continuously work to identify and guard against misinformation that could lead to unfair outcomes.

  • Continuous Monitoring & Disparity Testing: Our systems undergo pre-deployment and continuous testing to identify and address any unintended negative consequences or systematic unfairness in how the AI detects patterns or automates decisions.

  • Human Oversight in Sensitive Decisions: We ensure that human judgment is paramount in sensitive educational decisions where AI systems might play a role, preventing algorithmic discrimination that could affect student's learning.

1.4 Transparency: Building Trust Through Openness

Transparency is key to building trust in AI, especially in education. We believe you have a right to understand how and why our automated systems contribute to outcomes that impact your child's learning.

  • Clear Documentation & Notice: We provide accessible, plain-language documentation that describes how AI Homeroom works, the role automation plays, and clear notice that such systems are in use.

  • Explainable AI Models: We strive to ensure our AI models can explain the basis for their pattern detection and recommendations, allowing educators and parents to understand decisions and intervene when necessary. If questioned, AI applications will explain their processing and intent.

  • Public Reporting (where feasible): We aim to provide summary reporting about our AI systems, including assessments of safety, efficacy, and efforts to mitigate potential harms and biases, whenever possible and consistent with privacy and intellectual property laws.

By upholding these principles, Eggs Benedict Tech LLC is committed to leading the way in responsible AI learning products and services, creating a future where technology truly serves the best interests of every child.
